- What They Do: Colonel De Gourmet Herbs & Spices is a premium maker and seller of the stuff that makes good food tasty.
Scope Of Work
Colonel De Gourmet Herbs & Spices is a beloved brand based in historic Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, but with store locations all around the Cincinnati area. While their retail business thrived, their web sales and overall customer experience was severely lacking due to a confusing and cumbersome customer experience.
Brand Shepherd was retained to fix that, and make a customer experience that better reflected the Colonel De Gourmet Herbs & Spices in-store experience.
The core thing that makes Colonel De Gourmet Herbs & Spices different is that shoppers can buy as much or as little as they want.
Yet, nothing existed as a web-based tool to allow a shopper choose as much or as little as they want on a website. Adding to that challenge was the fact that Colonel De Gourmet Herbs & Spices had not found an agency who could build something from scratch.
This is where Brand Shepherd did something no other had been able to do. We built a totally custom amount selector that has myriad complexity on the back-end to make it work with Colonel De Gourmet Herbs & Spices’ inventory systems, but to the shopper, it’s a simple and intuitive slider of amounts and pricing.
As well, we built a website around this proprietary feature that reflected the Colonel De Gourmet Herbs & Spices brand as a whole, allowing this thriving brand to grow even more.
Sadly, in October of 2018, Colonel De passed away, leaving a host of loved ones and foodies devastated. Brand Shepherd is honored to have worked alongside Mrs. Colonel (De’s wife) and Ashley (De’s son) to make Colonel De’s vision for this website come to life.
The Colonel De Gourmet Herbs & Spices brand lives on, and we are proud to be part of this legacy of making food extraordinarily tasty.

“Our internet sales are growing exponentially. Part of that is due to the pandemic but it is also due to our amazing, easy to use website. In 2020, our May orders were over 725% larger than the orders from May 2019.”
