At Brand Shepherd our philosophy toward creating websites has a threefold core:

1. We will use WordPress to create websites, unless directed by our client to do otherwise.

2. We will focus on content more than design because we believe unique website design is dead – there are only so may arrangements of spaces for imagery, text and video, and those combinations have all been developed. People want engaging, useful content from a website, not clever design.

3. All websites we create use either the Salient or Enfold WordPress themes. These themes are time-tested for their ease of use, security, great core code, and support from their creators.

The position of WordPress Content Expert:

• Installs WP on the host.
• Installs the theme, and creates a Child Theme.
• Sets up our preferred core Plugins.
• Using predetermined creative direction from the Creative Director, the WPCE creates the core page templates with actual or placeholder text and imagery, as well as the homepage.
• Creates a homepage header hero image with CTA that might be animated. We no longer design sliders as homepage hero images.
• Works with the Creative Director through a maximum 3 rounds of revisions to content in the website.
• Works with the Creative Director and WordPress developer to deploy the website. A WPCE is especially attractive to Brand Shepherd if s/he can deploy a website from beta to production hosting environments.

Compensation is based on experience proven by examples of work and 2 references. However our hourly rate of pay for WPCE is a maximum of $50/hr.

The position of WordPress Developer:

• Creates a beta environment on the client’s hosting provider. We prefer a dev.domainname.com environment.
• Works with the Creative Director to create any customizations within the website. A full scope of work will be provided. Customizations are allowed 3 rounds of revision requests before being considered final.
• Works with the Creative Director and WordPress Content Expert to deploy the website to the production environment.

Compensation is based on experience proven by examples of work and 2 references. However our hourly rate of pay for WordPress Developer is a maximum of $65/hr. for a top-shelf developer.

Brand Shepherd is looking for a freelance designer who thrives while creating for digital-first consumption.

The Digital Designer:

• Knows how to design for the screen first and foremost – not necessarily for print.
• Does as much work as possible in Adobe Illustrator because vector is best.
• Is organized and timely – doesn’t miss a deadline, ever.
• Is at least familiar, or possibly a pro, at creating what’s needed for digital video – overlays, lower-thirds, etc.
• Can roll up the sleeves, and work inside a WordPress theme when needed.

Compensation is based on experience proven by examples of work and 2 references. However our hourly rate of pay for a digital designer is a maximum of $50/hr.

Brand Shepherd is looking for a freelance delineation designer who can take an idea that has been started, and finish it in whatever form that is needed.

The Delineation Designer:

• Works in design disciplines of web and print. Video is a plus as well.
• Can take a design that has been started, and delineate it into whatever the final deliverable is. Example: Our lead designer creates a master label design for product packaging. The Delineation Designer is able to make all the needed product variations (size, color, type, etc.) from the master template. Or, for another example, the lead designer creates a style for a WordPress website, and the Delineation Designer is able to take that style and apply it to all of the other graphics and whatnot needed for the rest of the website.
• Knows Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign very well.

Compensation is based on experience proven by examples of work and 2 references. However, our hourly rate of pay for a Delineation Designer is a maximum of $50/hr.
