The jury is still out as to whether QR Codes (aka, 2D Codes) will be the bridge between print, mobile and the internet. What can say is this: More and more people are using their smart phones (and some tablets) to scan QR Codes for information about that which they are interested in. In this case, Brand Shepherd was hired by our Realtor® to refresh her business card so that it includes a QR Code to her profile with the realty firm she is an agent with. Design-wise we simply tastefully rearranged the existing design to accommodate a QR Code of reasonable size.
Brand Shepherd is seeing a lot of applications for QR Codes. We now use them on packaging for certain consumer packaged goods, on other business cards, even on apparel and vehicles. Anywhere that a curious person could scan the code to learn more, or as a call to action, we are on the front lines of seeing where this goes.
For what it’s worth, we are fond of the QR Code Generator from BeQRious. We can create many kinds of codes there, and output them as either vectorized PDFs or pixel-friendly GIFs.
